Quoi de plus compliqué finalement que d’organiser, classer, scinder, une collection de jeux sur PC, machine sur laquelle j’ai commencé à jouer à la toute fin des années 80. Après plusieurs années de réflexion, j’ai finalement décidé de couper en deux celle-ci entre Génération MS-DOS et Génération Windows.

Notre premier PC, début des années 90, un modèle 8088 ne disposait pas de lecteur de disquette « Floppy » ni d’écran couleur et encore moins d’une carte son. Rapidement upgradé en 386 DX 40mhz avec 1mo de mémoire, nous ne nous équiperons qu’en 1994 d’un écran couleur, du son et du support disquette 1’44 » alors que le monde du jeu vidéo était déjà passé au CD-Rom !

A cette époque, les jeux vidéo étaient donc vendus dans une boite en carton, au format parfois variable, avec son nombre de disquettes de plus en plus imposant et divers accessoires empêchant la triche ! Des souvenirs bien plus savoureux que ce que l’on retrouvera plus tard avec ces boites standardisés du début du nouveau millénaire et ces jeux pressés sur DVD-Rom.

J’ai d’ailleurs une préférence toute particulière à rechercher ces jeux au format dit « Big Box ». C’est un peu le sentiment ultime de richesse du gamin de 12 ans. A l’époque, un jeu ne s’achetait pas. S’il était bon, on le copiait sur disquette chez un copain pour le ramener chez soi. Et s’il était mauvais aussi d’ailleurs, histoire de gonfler le listing dans DBase 3 !
